Welcome to my Website

About Fred Smith: I was born a poor black child in Beaumont, Texas, but left the state while very young, growing up primarily in Anchorage, Alaska. I joined the United States Air Force shortly after graduating from Robert Service High School. After a 5-1/2 year tour at RAF Mildenhall, in England, and a short 10 months at Pope AFB, NC working as a turboprop engine mechanic on C-130s, I left active service, attended college, and continued to serve in the Texas Air National Guard as an Avionics Technician and Aircraft Quality Assurance Inspector at NAS Fort Worth JRB, Carswell Field until retiring in April, 2011. I'm currently finishing up building our dream home on two acres just south of Weatherford, Texas.

I have been building models for over 50 years, and have sold over 200 pieces of my work. I probably do an equal amount of modified and out-of-the-box kits, large scratch builds and some card stock models. I also enjoy a variety of music, computers, and spending time with my wife (and cats) in Fort Worth. I became a Christian at the age of nine, but it wasn't until my time in England that I became well grounded in the Reformed Faith. Feel free to E-mail me, if you have any comments or questions.
